This should work nicely for those that want to wait to deploy XP SP3 a little longer but need to connect to Server 2008 TS Remote App. Link is at the bottom of brief overview.

Even if you aren’t testing out Internet Explorer Applications you might find a practical use for these fully functional operating systems including Windows XP SP2 and Vista. Why XP isn’t SP3 is a mystery but that can be easily remedied.
This is also a convenient way to look at the beta of IE 8.

Hyper-V RTM announcement. Available today from the Microsoft Download Centre

In the Hyper-V shiproom, we have signed off on Hyper-V RTM (Release To Manufacturing). The build and articles are actively working their way through the systems and will be available from Microsoft Download Centre from around noon Pacific time. While waiting, please take a few moments to review the information in this post, plus the appropriate Knowledge Base (KB) articles I’ve linked to. There is a significant amount of information to take on board. It is fantastic for me to be able to publicly state that Hyper-V is released and ready for production deployment.

Microsoft’s John Howard posted this insightful tip – you can download an ISO of XP SP3 which of course makes it easy to mount as a virtual disk in order to create a XP SP3 virtual image. You might want to do that for testing …perhaps
– besides testing, if you want the Integration Services to install so say …that you can have a network connection …then this is also relevant.
Who is John Howard? – My top favorite Server Core & Hyper-V blog author & Senior Program Manager, Hyper-V team, Windows Core Operating System Division.
As you are probably aware from KB949219 (RC0 release of Hyper-V), the Hyper-V Integration Services in our RC0 release require Service Pack 3 to install on Windows XP 32-bit. The final build of SP3 was released to microsoft.com yesterday. Here’s the links (and I like the way they are also packaging it as an ISO which makes it dead easy to update a virtual machine).

Bug #1 ME (Humility ahead – check the ego at the door) – Thank you to Ben for pointing out my tremendous oversight.
If you don’t meet the pre-requisites then the resultant failure is NOT a bug …but just yours. Doh! Vista SP1 is a pre-requisite. The screen-shots below show as much.
Can’t get the Integrated Components (Release Candidate update) to install into my Vista Ultimate guest.

**solution**
download Vista SP1 as an .iso, mount it as a Disk virtually, install
